25 Years of Lord of the Rings: Experience The Fellowship of the Ring in an Epic Fusion of Film and 230 Musicians

may 5, 2026

An incredible 25 years have passed since the premiere of the first part of the cult trilogy The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, directed by Peter Jackson, based on the book by J. R. R. Tolkien. 10 years after the sold-out performance with a live orchestra at the O2 arena, the legend of the ring comes to life again.

“One ring rules them all, one preaches to them all, one will lead them all, bind them in darkness.”

The unique combination of spectacular film projection and live music by Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore, performed by a 230-piece orchestra, choirs and foreign soloists, promises a truly magnificent experience for all the senses. The film will be screened in its original version with Czech subtitles.

“The large scale of the music requires a symphony orchestra, a mixed choir, a children’s choir and instrumental and vocal soloists singing in Tolkien’s literary languages, but of course also in English”, explains the author. His composing skills were fully manifested in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, creating a perfect second plan for the story. Styles and instruments from different corners of the world illustrate and characterize the individual elements of Tolkien’s saga.

Shore’s music not only captures vast emotions, distant views and paths full of obstacles and dangers, but also recalls the very construction of Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Styles and instruments from different corners of the world provide a unique musical track for the individual elements of this magical world. Melodic Celtic tones are typical for the rural and simple hobbits. An ethereal Eastern undertone is typical for the mystical elves. The Dwarves, Tolkien’s rugged stonebreakers, are given parallel harmonies by rough male choirs. The industrialized hordes of Orcs demand Shore’s most aggressive sounds, including Japanese taiko drums and metal bells and chains that strike piano strings, while the world of Men, the wounded but proud heirs of Middle-earth, is presented with harsh and searching elements of brass instruments. These musical worlds mix and sometimes join forces … and are always shaped by the sinister will of the Ring.

The music of The Lord of the Rings is ranked among the most complex and complete works in the field of film music. The unique performance of Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert allows the music to carry the weight of the narrative, creating an entirely new and dramatic concert experience.

As Howard Shore says: “My first work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the music for The Fellowship of the Ring, was the beginning of my journey into Tolkien’s world, and I will always have a very special relationship with it and the experience of creating it.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert is the only licensed original production, authorized directly by the composer Howard Shore, in the Czech Republic!
