Music that has conquered world cinemas and the hearts of listeners – this is the work of Greek composer Vangelis, whose monumental work will come to life on February 27, 2026 at Prague’s O2 universum as part of the Vangelis Original Concert 1492.
This exceptional music-visual show will connect famous film melodies with an impressive projection that will transport viewers to the fascinating worlds of Vangelis’s music. The evening will primarily feature the iconic soundtrack to the film 1492: Conquest of Paradise, whose main theme “Conquest of Paradise” has become a symbol of heroism, hope and human determination. However, the program will also offer other famous melodies from films such as Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire, Bitter Moon, Bounty or Alexander, which are still heard on world stages today.
Special guest – Daniel Hůlka
Daniel Hůlka, a prominent figure in the Czech music and theatre scene, known primarily for his title roles in musicals such as Dracula, Monte Cristo or Jekyll & Hyde, will perform as a special guest at the concert. His voice will add exceptional emotional depth to Vangelis’ music. The audience can look forward to, among other things, “The Conquest of Paradise“. The evening will feature an exceptional combination of world-famous film music and domestic singing interpretation.
The evening will be conducted by British maestro Pete Harrison, who has extensive experience with film music. He will be accompanied by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the most respected Czech symphony orchestras specializing in film and stage music.

Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, known as Vangelis, is one of the most important music composers of the 20th century. His music has become an integral part of film history. Vangelis won an Oscar for his score for Chariots of Fire, and also created the iconic futuristic soundtrack for Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, as well as the impressive music for the historical epic Alexander, the psychological drama Bitter Moon (directed by Roman Polanski), and the adventure film Bounty, starring stars such as Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson. The music for these films is unmistakable – emotional, imaginative and deeply human.
