Today, the world-famous APOCALYPTICA enters the next part of its successful musical journey. Their next, long-awaited album “Plays Metallica vol. 2” is out today, and they will present it live in a spectacular show, in PRAGUE, O₂ universum, on October 11th, 2024!

In the long tradition of heavy metal, only a handful of artists can claim to have changed history, and even fewer can say they’ve done it twice. APOCALYPTICA writes one of the most amazing stories in metal, with an unusual instrument in metal, cellos!

For all the countless successes and accolades that APOCALYPTICA has received during their time on the music scene, there is perhaps one that stands above all others. They personally met and became friends with Metallica. Both bands feel not only a strong friendship, but also a mutual respect for each other, and it was after the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the release of their famous debut “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” (1996) that the idea for a sequel to this work was born.

“We played the whole first album and it was a lot more fun and exciting than we expected,” says Eicca. “We got the idea to do something like the first album, but we couldn’t do it in quite the same way. We needed to face it and bring a whole new perspective to the original energy and emotions of Metallica.”

The result is nothing more than an audio love letter. The album, which they simply, elegantly named “Plays Metallica, Vol. 2” and the passion put into the recording project by Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen and Mikko Sirén – the band’s longtime drummer who left after the completion of this album is clearly heard and seen.
